The "Every Inch Counts" Dynasty Bylaws

The below are the bylaws for the "Every Inch Counts" dynasty fantasy football leagues for the 2023 season. Any rules changes will be voted on during the league offseason.

1. League Overview

1.0. The Every Inch Counts League is a dynasty superflex fantasy football league established on May 23rd, 2023. This league is designed for multi-year commitment, emphasizing strategic team management, player development, and active participation throughout the season. The league aims to foster healthy competition, camaraderie, and an enjoyable fantasy football experience for all members.

2. Roster and Starting Lineup

2.0.  Rosters consist of 9 starters, 12 bench (21 total active squad players), 2 IR, and 2 Taxi

2.1. Rookies can be red-shirted for one year using the taxi squad. Taxi players can be activated to the active roster at any point but can only be moved to the taxi squad prior to season start.

2.2. The offseason bench expands by 4 spots to account for rookie draft picks.

3. Drafts and Player Acquisition

3.0. Initial draft: “Slow” draft before the season, snake draft, 4 hours per pick (most picks will be quick), pauses overnight. There is not a redraft, these will be your players year after year, barring transactions. Only rookies eligible for taxi squad.

3.1. Rookie draft: “Slow” rookie draft after the NFL draft to allow teams to acquire supplement rosters. Linear draft, 4 hours per pick, pauses overnight. These players are eligible for taxi squad.

3.2. Free agency and waivers: $100 FAAB (Free Agent Acquisition Budget) that resets after postseason cuts. Waiver dollars will roll over each year, with a maximum of $200 FAAB at any time. Waiver dollars are a tradable asset. Free agency locks after the championship until post-rookie draft. Rolling waivers will be active at all times.

3.3. Trades: Players, draft picks, and FAAB available to trade. Draft picks can be traded up to one year in advance. A new year of picks unlocks after each rookie draft and league buy-ins collected. For example the 2023-2024 season picks are available for the 2024 and 2025 draft. No trade review. Trade is vetoed only in cases of obvious collusion. Trade deadline posted in league settings.

4. League Schedule and Playoffs

4.0. Start-up draft: Initial league draft where all teams draft their players. This will begin on ___ and go in the slow draft format with extended periods of time between picks (up to 4-8 hours) to allow for trade negotiations to occur. The draft will be paused from overnight and during work hours if the draftee has prior obligations.

4.1. Regular season: The regular season will consist of 14 weeks, with each team facing off against every other team in the league once.

4.2. Playoffs: The top 6 teams will advance to the playoffs.

Playoff format: 3-week head-to-head playoffs (does not re-seed).

Playoff seeding: The playoff seeds will be determined by the teams' regular-season records, with tiebreakers based on total points scored. No divisions will be used.

The playoff schedule will be determined based on the league calendar, with each round lasting one week and the Championship round 1 week prior to the end of the NFL season.

4.3. League Quiet Period: The league quiet period is the period between the end of the playoffs and the start of the next season. Transactions are locked.

4.4. League New Year Start Date: The league reopens after the Super Bowl. This is the day when transactions, excluding waiver pickups, can resume. The next round of money is due by all teams at this point. Players can be dropped at this point but rolling waivers do not open until after the Rookie Draft.

4.5. Rookie Lottery: Lottery for rookie draft slots will happen at least 1 month after league new year. This will allow for a window of opportunity to trade picks before draft slots are known.

4.6. Rookie Draft: The Rookie Draft will occur one week after the NFL draft and will follow the slow draft format as described above. Players on waivers can be selected in the Rookie Draft.

5. Draft Lottery Odds

5.0. For playoff teams it is set using only league finish. 1st receives the 12th pick. 2nd receives the 11th pick. Winners of consolation rounds will receive the better pick of their match up. So 3rd receives the 9th pick. 4th receives the 10th pick. 5th receives the 7th pick. 6th receives the 8th pick.

5.1. Draft Odds are set using a weighting of league finish (25%) and Max PF (75%) for Non-Playoff teams. There are 82 ‘Lottery Points’ total. League finish works in reverse of traditional odds to discourage tanking. 7th place will receive 6 lottery points. 8th place will receive 5 lottery points… and so on. Max PF a.k.a. best ball lineup will be used to reward teams that are actually bad and rebuilding. If you have the highest Max PF of Non-Playoff teams you will receive 3 lottery points (3x1). The second highest PF will receive 6 lottery points (3x2)…and so on. Assuming Max PF and League Finish ( as in 7th place has highest Max PF and last place has the lowest Max PF…) the lottery odds will be (9%, 13%, 16%, 18%, 21%, 23%).

6. League Fees and Prizes

6.0. League entry fee: The initial entry fee is $100 which covers the first 2 seasons of play. The entry fee for each season subsequent will be $50 per team. The entry fee for each season is due prior to the rookie draft.

6.1. Prize distribution: The league's prize pool will be distributed as follows:

1st place: $500 (finalist can negotiate a split)

Most total points (regular season): $100

7. Miscellaneous

7.0. Rule changes: Any proposed rule changes voted on, with a majority vote and typically a 1-2 year waiting period. Obvious fixes to league settings will be implemented immediately.

7.1. Tanking and Roster Setting: The commissioners will not police rosters, but section 5 is designed so tanking or not inactive ownership will not help your draft lottery odds. Draft Lottery Odds structure is designed to reward teams that are well managed.

7.2. Inflation: Increase of league dues will happen periodically and on an as needed basis.
